The Last Photo Of Slain Rapper M-Bone Of Cali Swag District

Montae Talbert, the rapper better known as M-Bone and member of the West Coast hip-hop group Cali Swag District, was killed in California in a drive-by shooting on Sunday evening, according to police.

Founded by former Death Row artist Big Wy and Dairold Potts, Cali Swag District was made up of M-Bone, Smoove, Jay Are and Yung, and the group earned national fame for the single “Teach Me How to Dougie.”

Cali Swag District released a statement to TMZ, saying their friend and fellow group member was “the victim of a random act of violence last night, Sunday May 15 in his hometown of Inglewood, CA.”

“As police are still investigating the shooting and untimely death, we ask that anyone with information contact the Inglewood Police Department.

“M-Bone was an inspiration to his family, friends and fans. He was a hardworking, passionate artist and dancer that will be deeply missed.”

According to TMZ, the rapper was next to his car outside of a local liquor store late Sunday when shots rang out. M-Bone was hit and taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Just a few weeks ago, FOX News caught up with the group for what now turns out to be one of M-Bone’s last ever interviews.

Here are excperts from that interview:

FOX News: You guys left your mark on dance floors across America last year with everyone wanting to learn how to do the “Dougie”… how did that come about?

Yung:  The Dougie is a dance that originated from Dougie Fresh himself, it came from a move he used to do… Fresh used to rub his head all the time when he was on stage, so Dallas, Texas took it in and turned it into a D-town Dougie – moving from side to side and rubbing the head!

FOX News: And now you have “The Kickback” – what else can we expect?

M-Bone:  Songs for the ladies!

FOX News: Your fame happened pretty fast, are you all still pinching yourselves?

Smoove: Yes it all happened so suddenly, so everything we do is like a learning process, and the respect level is through the roof. We get respected by people that we didn’t even talk to back in middle school or in high school. They’re like, ‘man, I remember when we were the best of friends!’ But it is cool they respect us now, life is good.

Yung: A lot of people look up to us, like in the airport last night some dude walked up and said could I give him some advice on how to make it. It’s incredible.

M-Bone: Yeah and it happens all time. 

FOX News: Music aside, what’s next?

Jay Are: I want a TV show, we need a TV show!

M-Bone: Commercials… oh, and we need that Nike contract! Haha.

Yung: Movies, going overseas. We expect a lot. A lot.

Television review: Becoming Chaz

Midway through "Becoming Chaz," the raw and revelatory documentary about Chaz (nee Chastity) Bono's physical transition from female to male, Chaz visits his Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor and her partner to show them the results of his recent chest surgery. The women, who loaned Chaz the money to have his breasts removed, have prepared a lovely brunch and while Chaz chows down, he eagerly describes the side effects of his transition, which includes regular doses of testosterone. Not only does he find himself increasingly unable to abide women's "gabbing," he tells them, his sex drive has increased enormously.

"It's a shame women can't feel it," he says, "and know how biological it is."

"Huh," says his sponsor. And while Bono, oblivious, continues to eat, the two women sit, frozen in a brief but excruciating pause. It all comes down to chemistry, after all.

"Becoming Chaz," which premieres Tuesday night on OWN, is undoubtedly one of the most thought-provoking films you will see on any screen this year, a frankly chronicled tale of Chaz's life as a transgender man that opens a more than occasionally mind-blowing conversation about the essentials of gender, and subsequently, sexuality.

Often likened to gay identity before the Stonewall riots, or women's lives pre-"The Feminine Mystique," the transgender experience is actually one of the few human conditions almost completely without cultural, literary or artistic landmarks. Over the centuries, poets and playwrights have expressed, albeit in veiled terms, the love that dared not speak its name just as women have had their say, and champions. But the idea that a person could be born into a body at odds with his or her sense of gender has only recently entered the public conversation, through films like "Boys Don't Cry" and talk shows like Oprah Winfrey's.

Transgenderism remains so foreign a concept to those who have not experienced it that its explanation falls totally to those who have. In Chaz Bono, the transgender community found its first celebrity spokesperson since Renée Richards. Not only is Chaz a man (the transgender male community, as the film says, is much less public than the female) but he was famous long before he identified as transgender.

It is a heavy burden, and one with which Chaz, a witty and articulate but non-attention-seeking individual, is not terribly comfortable; fame caused almost as much conflict in his life as his ill-fitting body did. But having committed to becoming a spokesperson for this marginalized community, Chaz tells his story with a graphic and stunning simplicity. The action begins as he is preparing to have his breasts removed, and documents his recovery from the surgery, his subsequent legal transition from female to male and the reactions of his longtime girlfriend Jennifer Elia as well as his friends and family.

Elia, like her partner, is breathtakingly honest, often hilariously so, whether popping a zit on Chaz's back at one point, or shaking her head over his emerging "swagger." Her struggle with sobriety is an ongoing tension in the relationship (Chaz is a recovering alcoholic and drug addict), as is the fact that she is a lesbian. Early on, when Chaz confides that the two never acted like a lesbian couple, Elia retorts, "What does a lesbian couple act like?" But Chaz's transition clearly has an impact on their relationship. Elia fell in love with a woman and Chaz is now a man, which prompts all manner of questions about the nature of enduring love.

And then there's the elephant in the room. Cher, like her son, is not one for mincing words. Other family members — Chaz's aunt and grandmother, stepmother Mary Bono and her children — offer unconditional, unquestioning support, but Cher, who publicly voiced her unhappiness when her then-daughter Chastity came out, is clearly ambivalent. Though the pain and distance Cher's reluctance inflicts on Chaz is palpable, neither filmmakers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato nor Chaz portray her as a monster. Instead, she is seen as expressing the feelings of confusion and loss any mother might have. So when, while promoting her film "Burlesque," Cher actually uses the pronoun "he" and announces that she thinks Chaz is very brave, it is a moment of hope, if not triumph.

Miraculously, "Becoming Chaz" doesn't go much for triumph, at least not in the theatrical sense. Instead, the film presents life as ongoing and complicated, as it actually is, for the transgendered and non-transgendered alike. Becoming a man doesn't solve all of Chaz's problems, just his biggest one.  Copyright © 2011, Los Angeles Times

Wife of Osama

Wife of Osama bin Laden admitted his family had been five years of living in a complex in Abbottabad, Pakistan, before being shot dead by U.S. troops.
This information is conveyed by some Pakistani security officials without his name called by the AFP news agency on Saturday (05/07/2011), based on information Abdulfattah Amal Ahmed, the third wife of Osama.
Of the three wives of Osama (54), Charity is the youngest wife, who were aged 29 years, was born on 27 March 1982, according to his Yemeni passport copy seen by AFP. The woman was shot in the legs in the operation of Navy SEALs, and is now undergoing medical treatment and interrogation in Pakistan along with 15 members of Osama's family.
On Sunday night, U.S. special forces flew by helicopter to a three-level house where bin Laden family living in a suburb of Pakistan.
"He said in Arabic that bin Laden and his family have lived in the compound during the last five years and he (Osama) never leave the compound," said a Pakistani security official who knew of the investigation.
"But this is only a statement and we do not prove the truth," the official added. The second security officials to ensure that information. Pakistani officials had said the three wives of Osama had been found in the house, all citizens of Yemen or Saudi Arabia, along with their 13 children, along with the body of her son, two bodyguards Kuwait, and a woman.

Astronomers prepare to observe the appliance giant asteroid the size of the aircraft. This asteroid will cross the earth with very close range. Like what?

Space.com reported, an asteroid the size of the aircraft will cross the earth at a distance closer than the moon. But the media is sure, it is not potentially threatening asteroid Earth.

"There is no danger of collision when the asteroid 2005 YU55 reach the closest distance to Earth next 8 November," said the astronomers.

The shortest distance path the asteroid is estimated to reach 324,604 kilometers from Earth, he added.

At the closest point, astronomers claimed to be able to study the asteroid is better.

"Normally, objects that cross Earth's sky is far enough. However, with this close distance, the science on Earth can be observed very well, "said scientists from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory Barbara Wilson, in Pasadena, California.

Asteroid 2005 YU55 found the astronomers University of Arizona in Tucson in 2005.

Pakistani business community yesterday expressed the hope that the investment environment would improve after the killing of Osama bin Laden, the leader of Al Qaeda responsible for killing thousands of Pakistanis.
The killing of the world’s most wanted man did not influence exchange rate as the US dollar kept normal relation with the rupee on the day when he was announced dead.
It was surprising while most of the businessmen and bankers thought that bin Laden was not much related to the local business environment, they were not ready to be quoted under ‘unknown fear’.
The business community and bankers said the law and order situation would improve hoping a sharp drop in bomb explosions.
So far over 30,000 Pakistanis have been killed in bomb explosions including suicide attacks.
Leading business leaders flatly refused to comment on the killing of Bin Laden without explaining the fear.
However, Chairman F.B. Area Association of Trade and Industry Mohammad Irfan said the investment environment would improve only when the US forces leave the region.
“I think the Americans have achieved their target by killing Osama as they hold him mastermind of the 9/11 attacks,” said Irfan, adding that the US would evacuate the region.
The business community believes that presence of US forces in Afghanistan would continue to deteriorate law and order situation which would not allow improvement in investment flows to Pakistan.
They said Pakistan had to face hundreds of suicide bombings and loss of thousands of lives which destroyed the country’s image as economy of vast potential having a huge market of 180 million people.
“I think the killing of Bin Laden will have no immediate positive impact on the economy, however, if the law and order situation improves as a result it will certainly improve the investment environment,” said a senior banker.
He said the situation would be clear in next 20 to 25 days helping analysing the real impact of killing of Bin Laden.
An industrialist expressed fear that the situation could further deteriorate if Americans take such actions in other cities without taking Pakistan in confidence.
The government however didn’t come up with a clear statement how the American forces landed in Abbottabad without the involvement of local law enforcement agencies which created doubts that Americans carried out the operation at their own.
“If this is the real situation then I can see more attacks in other cities like Lahore, Islamabad and even Karachi which would certainly destroy the economy,” said an exporter of textile products.
Currency dealers said the impact of bin Laden death was zero on exchange rates.
“The only visible thing in the open market was more purchasing of dollars,” said Anwar Jamal, a currency dealer.
He said the greenback was traded at the same level of about Rs84.50 as it was on Saturday. The inter-bank currency market also operated normal.

Circumstances made retirement more appealing for Gary Williams

The players found out at 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon. Some of his close friends didn’t even know by then, and many of the people he worked with. It was Gary Williams’ little secret he had coached his last game at Maryland.

It’s probably better for this to come as a complete surprise, because this way everybody will forget that final game: a one-sided loss to Duke in the ACC Tournament. Dean Smith went out in the Final Four. John Wooden went out with an NCAA championship. Williams went out getting his tail kicked by Mike Krzyzewski for the third time this year.

There was no last NCAA Tournament appearance to crown Williams’ legacy, and there wasn’t likely to be next season now that sophomore center Jordan Williams signed with an agent and is in the NBA draft for good. So perhaps the retirement Gary had been pondering for a while began to seem even more appealing.

He thought about it a year ago, not long after he reached the prototypical retirement age of 65, but decided he still had more to offer. And that extra year wasn’t all a struggle. It is curious the part of his job that had become the greatest burden to him, recruiting new talent, was more successful in 2011 than any recent season. He signed two fine guard prospects, Sterling Gibbs and Nick Faust, adding them to a backcourt that already featured successful freshmen Pe’Shon Howard and Terrell Stoglin.

It may be that being newly married convinced him it was time to spend less time on the road and more time with family. He had a quiet wedding a couple weeks back, one that certainly attracted less publicity than the nuptials for Will and Kate. The travel that comes with chasing games and players across the continent can create a dreadful strain on even the strongest marriage.

It’s not as though Williams needs to apologize, though, for deciding 33 years as a Division I head coach were enough.

North Carolina coach Roy Williams, for one, felt there was nothing for his coaching friend to worry about in deciding to end such a long, successful career.

"I am shocked but yet there comes a time for everyone to make their own decision and move on with their life," North Carolina coach Roy Williams said. "Gary is a great friend, a great coach and one that I will miss immensely in the ACC and in college basketball. He has truly done an outstanding job at every school he’s coached at and has done it well for many, many years. I am happy he is leaving on his terms, but very sad that he will no longer be a colleague on the sidelines."

He didn’t win as many games as Dean Smith. He didn’t win as many championships as Jim Calhoun. He didn’t win as many friends as Al McGuire because Williams’ personal charm was much less overt, though no less profound.

Williams is every bit deserving of a place next to those coaches in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, though it has taken a while for the electors to recognize his merits. Williams should be remembered as one of the greatest college coaches. He won at American, at Boston College, at Ohio State -- and he’d have won at Duquesne if he hadn’t been frightened away from the job by the unrealistic expectations of one of the school’s legendary figures.

Most memorably, Williams rebuilt Maryland from a failed power, drowning under the weight of NCAA sanctions, into the program that eventually won the 2002 national championship.

He never quite was able to revisit the success of that team, although there were brief flashes of glory: the ACC Tournament title in 2004, the regular-season crown shared with eventual national champion Duke in 2010, which the Terps secured with a stirring home victory over the Blue Devils during the final week of the regular season.

There were reasons why Maryland struggled subsequent to that championship season that had nothing to do with Williams losing his touch on the bench. He was as good as ever in terms of preparing a team, scouting opponents, running a game.

It had become more difficult, though, to win without elite talent. The 2002 team was symbolic of both Williams’ greatest successes and his greatest struggles; it was the only championship team since the first McDonald’s All-American came of age to win the title without one of the game’s alumni on the roster. The star players – guards Juan Dixon and Steve Blake, big men Lonny Baxter and Chris Wilcox – had been undervalued by others in the recruiting process. As the assistants who uncovered those gems became head coaches – Billy Hahn, Dave Dickerson, Jimmy Patsos – locating such players became a greater challenge.

Recruiting changed, as well, with the rising influence of summer coaches, AAU coaches, club coaches – whatever you want to call them, Gary didn’t. Call them, I mean. It was best described in a Washington Post story from 2009 headlined, “A Whole New Ballgame That Williams Won’t Play.” It was one segment of a terrific three-part series, but writers Eric Prisbell and Steve Yanda could have summarized the whole project in one quote they secured from Curtis Malone, who runs the popular and powerful DC Assault program: “A guy like Gary, he is not a big AAU guy, and everyone knows that."

There are no AAU coaches in retirement. If Williams chooses to pursue television work or merely to golf and spend time with his new wife, he doesn’t have to worry about the Assault or Baltimore Elite or Team Takeover. He has earned this freedom. He no longer needs to sweat the recruiting process.

Steven Tyler is a Rock Star -- capital R, capital S. He understands that being a Rock Star is about more than just selling records. You have to live The Life, and if you write a memoir about The Life, certain conventions have to be respected -- band fights have to be detailed, partying catalogued, hookups listed, regrets stated, a sensitive inner side revealed, redemption found -- and because Tyler understands what it means to be a Rock Star, he delivers the goods in Does the Noise in My Head Bother You? Written with Rolling Stone founding editor David Dalton (James Dean: The Mutant King, El Sid: Saint Vicious, the forthcoming Bob's Brain: Decoding Dylan), Tyler's surprisingly insightful and entertaining voice brings the familiar contours of this story alive. It's not the most original rock memoir, but it is a fun read.
Tyler was born Steven Tallarico in 1948 in the Bronx, N.Y. He had an ordinary childhood, or at least what passes for an ordinary childhood for a future rock star, though one surprising revelation is how outdoorsy he was as a kid. He spent every summer at his family's summer home in Sunapee, N.H. "I was a mountain boy, barefoot and wild," Tyler writes. "I'd come back after an afternoon of killing with my slingshot and Red Ryder BB gun with a string of blue jays tied to my belt."
But by 15, he was already getting high and already sure he wanted to be a rock star. People instantly made the Mick Jagger comparison (those lips didn't help), but Tyler reveals Janis Joplin as his idol (and the inspiration for the scarves he drapes around his mike stand).
The turning point in Tyler's life came when he saw Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton perform with their band at a show in the summer of 1969 in Sunapee. Tyler and Perry became fast friends, capping that first summer by attending Woodstock together. The next year, they formed a band, gaining notice on Boston's club circuit, but it was a gig at the legendary Max's Kansas City that landed them a record deal. Their third album, 1975's Toys in the Attic, vaulted them to superstardom.

Tyler's relationship with Perry -- easily the most important and complicated of his adult life -- is the emotional center of the book. Perry is his "polar" and "mutant" twin, the "cool" to his "sulphur sun beast," the "creep" to his "asshole." The legendary rock bands of the '60s and '70s were defined by bromances -- Paul and John, Mick and Keith -- and Tyler/Perry is one of rock's greatest. Tyler wrote "Sweet Emotion" about Perry after his friend chose living with his girlfriend over rooming with Tyler.
Drugs are the other constant. They are everywhere in the book: He gets high as a kid, he bonds with Perry over drugs, he keeps them hidden in a drum so he can have them onstage, he gets addicted to prescription painkillers after surgery. Tyler estimates he blew $20 million on drugs: "I snorted my plane, I snorted my house." He gets clean, he relapses, he gets clean again. He reels off the eight rehab centers where he's been a patient, surely a contender for the all-time celebrity record.
The story of Aerosmith's rise, fall and redemption is all here. Much of it is familiar from the band's earlier authorized bio Walk This Way but told now from Tyler's perspective. The most entertaining new story is about a woman who didn't sleep with him: rocker Joan Jett. Tyler made a pass at her -- or what amounts to a rock star's pass -- by showing up outside her hotel room buck naked one night. Jett blows him off with a riff on one of Aerosmith's biggest hits: "I'm not into big 10-inch, honey."
Those coming to the book only as American Idol fans might be disappointed by the relatively small amount of space devoted to the show. Besides, it's clear Tyler's decision to join Idol is best understood in the context of his long-running feud with Aerosmith: He's a guy cheating on his girlfriend with her enemy, the perky, popular cheerleader.
Does the Noise in My Head Bother You? is much like Tyler himself. What on the surface seems cliched, almost a parody of a rock memoir, manages somehow to rise above that and be a fun ride. And pulling off that trick, ladies and gentlemen, is what separates a Rock Star from a merely ordinary pop star.

As the Soviets were closing in from the East, and British and U.S. troops were moving toward Berlin from the West, Adolf Hitler took refuge in an underground lair — the Führerbunker, a massive complex of rooms directly below the New Reich Chancellery in Berlin. From there and for the last few months of World War II, Hitler plotted maneuvers he believed would crush the Allies and turn the tide of the war toward the Germans. Nothing of the kind came to fruition. The Russians captured the Reichstag in late April, and Hitler realized his time was running out. He hastily married his longtime mistress Eva Braun inside the bunker. And a day later, on April 30, 1945, it is widely believed that Hitler shot himself with a pistol while Braun digested cyanide capsules.

Osama bin Laden's Compound

In the end, Osama bin Laden was not hiding in a cave. He was not living hand to mouth on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, as many in the U.S. believed. He was, as White House counterterrorism adviser John Brennan recently put it, "hiding in plain sight" in the idyllic, affluent city of Abbottabad, Pakistan — less than a mile from a Pakistani army military academy. Bin Laden lived on the top two floors of a three-story house surrounded by high concrete walls — towering 10 to 18 ft. (3 to 5.5 m) — topped with barbed wire. For security reasons, his hideout did not have telephone lines or Internet. But he apparently did have a computer; Navy Seals snatched several disk drives during their 38-minute mission that ended in the al-Qaeda leader's death.

The Manson Family Ranch

The Spahn Movie Ranch is just your typical family home. If that family is the Family of Charles Manson and his devoted cult of followers, that is. In 1968, at age 80, dairy farmer George Spahn allowed Manson and his followers to move onto his 500-acre (200 hectares) property near Topanga Canyon in Southern California and live rent-free in exchange for housework and sexual favors from the group's women. It was from this ranch that Manson directed the killings of actress Sharon Tate — the pregnant wife of director Roman Polanski — and six others over a two-day period beginning Aug. 9, 1969. (Tate, who was just two weeks away from giving birth, was stabbed 16 times.) In an article from 1969, TIME called the killings "one of the grisliest, bloodiest, and apparently most senseless crimes of the century." After their arrest in October 1969, mastermind Manson and three of his followers were sentenced to death. (When California abolished the death penalty in 1972, their sentences were commuted to life in prison.)

Jeffrey Dahmer's Apartment

His wasn't a bunker, a hole or a compound. His was a one-bedroom in Milwaukee's Oxford Apartments. Serial killer and cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer occupied No. 213 at the time of his arrest in the summer of 1991. TIME noted that his neighbors had had clues that something was off: "A power saw buzzed at odd hours. The putrid odor of rotting meat flooded the corridors. Occasionally, a tenant would hear a cry or the thump of a falling object on the second floor." Dahmer, who confessed to murdering 17 boys and young men, surrounded himself with evidence of his gruesome crimes: not just pictures of mutilated human beings, but also skulls, severed heads and other body parts. The Oxford Apartments were later destroyed, as was Dahmer, who was killed by another inmate in 1994.

H.H. Holmes' Murder Castle

When a building gets nicknamed the Murder Castle, you know the story behind it is going to be bad. In 1886, H.H. Holmes, a pharmacist who would later be called the first U.S. serial killer, bought a Chicago drugstore that was owned by a cancer-stricken man named E.S. Holton. When Holton died, Holmes bought up surrounding property until he'd acquired an entire city block. He renovated the buildings and turned them into a hotel just in time for the 1893 World's Fair. But this was no ordinary hotel: most of the rooms were windowless, with stairways to nowhere and hallways that ended in dead ends. Holmes also built gas jets into hotel-room walls, a wooden disposal chute and person-size kiln in the basement. This was the perfect place to murder someone. And that's exactly what Holmes did: for much of 1893, he tortured and killed an untold number of people at his hotel, mostly young women visiting the city for the World's Fair. Holmes was caught and eventually hanged. He admitted to killing 27 people, although authorities still wonder if the body count might be dozens more. Strangely, the first floor of the Murder Castle remained a proper drugstore. Every day, customers purchased tonics and medicine, unaware of the horrors taking place directly above them.

The Unabomber's Cabin

Ted Kaczynski lived inside a 10-by-12-ft. (3 by 3.6 m) shack he built near Lincoln, Mont., for almost two decades. It was a bombmaking, manifesto-writing shack that enabled the Unabomber to terrorize U.S. citizens through mail bombs for years. The one-room cabin — which included books, a workbench, a potbellied stove and plenty of explosive-making materials — was almost demolished after Kaczynski was arrested in 1996. But at the last minute, it was saved and was later put on display at the Newseum in Washington, D.C., just blocks from the FBI headquarters where the Unabomber was the target of an immense investigation for 17 years.

Josef Fritzl's Dungeon

Elisabeth, daughter of 73-year-old Josef Fritzl, had been kept captive in a dungeon in Amstetten, Austria, by her father since she was a teenager. Josef had convinced his wife, Elisabeth's mother, Rosemarie, that Elisabeth had run off to live with a friend, even presenting letters he forced Elisabeth to write. During the time Elisabeth was underground, Josef raped her repeatedly and fathered seven children with her, one of which died soon after being born. Three of Elisabeth's remaining children were taken upstairs to live with Josef and his wife. This time, Josef convinced Rosemarie that the children had been left at their door as orphans. Elisabeth and the children still living in the dungeon (Kerstin, Stefan and Felix) had come to terms with living in the cramped, dingy space and were sure they would never be freed — at least not while Josef was alive. But when 19-year-old Kerstin fell ill in April 2008, Josef agreed to take her to the hospital. He and Elisabeth carried her out of the house, and Elisabeth was immediately ordered back to her prison. At the hospital, authorities were puzzled by Kerstin's illness and eventually police authorities took Josef into custody. Elisabeth, then 42, was freed, and in March 2009, Josef pleaded guilty to mass rape, incest, wrongful imprisonment, coercion and murder by negligence and was sentenced to life in prison.

Jonestown

On Nov. 18, 1978, more than 900 people died in the People's Temple commune in Guyana — better known as Jonestown. Cult founder Jim Jones, who led his followers to suicide and murder, had made his lair his crime scene. Soon after, a TIME correspondent described the "scores and scores of bodies" he saw there: "Couples with their arms around each other, children holding parents. Nothing moved. Washing hung on the clotheslines. The fields were freshly plowed. Banana trees and grape vines were flourishing.

Saddam Hussein's Spider Hole

Eight months after being ousted from power in Baghdad, the Iraqi tyrant was found in December 2003 hiding out in Ad-Dawr, a town 10 miles (16 km) south of his hometown of Tikrit. Saddam Hussein was pulled from a hole with a depth of 6 to 8 ft. (2 to 2.5 m) that was wide enough for him to lie down in. Also found in the so-called spider hole? Two AK-47s, a pistol and $750,000 worth in $100 bills. Saddam's capture came after a lengthy investigation in which intelligence officers questioned bodyguards and family members close to the deposed leader. When pulled from the subterranean hideout, Saddam seemed confused and disoriented. After the successful capture, President George W. Bush announced to Iraqis, "You do not have to fear the rule of Saddam Hussein ever again." Saddam was tried in Baghdad for crimes against humanity during his 23-year rule and was found guilty in November 2006. He was hanged the following month.

Elizabeth Bathory's Castle

She was said to have bathed in the blood of murdered virgins in order to maintain her youthful glow. That's pretty bad stuff. Countess Elizabeth Bathory, known as the Blood Countess, is regarded by some as one of the influences for Bram Stoker's Dracula. In the first decade of the 1600s, Bathory — a Hungarian noble — was arrested and accused of, among other crimes, murdering and torturing young servant girls and townsfolk at her castle in Cachtice, located in what is now Slovakia. Whether or not she killed hundreds or dozens of people (or any, really) will never be known. What is known is that while Bathory was not convicted of any of the crimes she was tried for, she was kept under house arrest in Castle Cachtice, where she died in 1614 after three years of imprisonment.
